In early September 2019, Hywel Griffiths and I went to St Just in Cornwall to represent Gorsedd Cymru in Gorsedh Kernow. We received a very warm welcome and it was a privilage to take part in the traditional ceremony at the Plan an Gwari. Hywel and I composed this short poem and read it in the ceremony. Here's a loose translation:
Today, on behalf of Gorsedd Cymru, here’s our poem, to bring together our two nations in the ceilidh’s bond. In the face of strife and oppression, Tories and their cuts, we say ‘No!’ Let’s come together; our history shall unite us. This song is our meur ras bras; this old circle is open, it’s the field of Kernow’s great horn, a small field filled with Kernewek Byw. |
